The first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which began playing in movie theaters at the start of this month, has been posted online.
Although brief, the first teaser for The Odyssey certainly gives fans plenty to chew on as it shows Tom Holland’s Telemachus confronting Jon Bernthal’s character about the whereabouts of his father, Matt Damons’ titular Odysseus.
The teaser is being uploaded to social media and taken down like a game of whack-a-mole, so if the video below is no longer available, we apologize, but such is the nature of the internet. With people likely posting the trailer online for the foreseeable future, perhaps Universal Pictures relents and decides to properly post it online sooner rather than later.
Just in case, we’ve included a detailed description of the trailer below, too.

If the teaser has been taken down, here’s a bullet-pointed description of what was shown:
-The teaser is 70 seconds long and features Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, and Jon Bernthal as a mystery character.
— Begins with narration by (possibly) Robert Pattinson’s character: “Darkness. Zeus’ laws smashed to pieces. A kingdom without a king since my master died…”
— Opening visuals: dark blue ocean, crashing waves, and references to an “unwinnable war” won by Odysseus.
— Two shots of the Trojan Horse: its shadow on the beach and then half-submerged in water, referencing the sacking of Troy.
— Teaser nods to Homer’s epic: Odysseus’ long journey home, encounters with monsters, gods, and being held by Calypso.
— Scene cuts to tense exchange between Telemachus (Holland) and Bernthal’s character, discussing Odysseus’ fate after Troy.
— Bernthal: “I know nothing of Odysseus, not since Troy,” as a storm approaches.
— Telemachus: “I have to find out what happened to my father. When did you last see him?”
— Bernthal questions the group about rumors and stories of Odysseus, shouting to the others for information.
— Visuals of Greek soldiers with torches marching through a city at night.
— Bernthal continues: “Some say he’s rich or some say he’s poor… Some say he perished. Some say he’s imprisoned. What say you?”
— Scene of a Greek soldier entering a cavern and unsheathing his sword, with “A Journey Begins” shown on screen.
— Bernthal and Holland discuss the idea of Odysseus being imprisoned: “What kind of prison? Good, old man like that.”
— Final shots: Odysseus stranded in the ocean on scraps of wood.
One of the prevailing thoughts from those who saw The Odyssey teaser either in theaters or at home is that Tom Holland — a well-liked but not necessarily respected actor — is about to prove a lot of his haters wrong with his performance as Odysseus’ son Telemachus.
“I saw The Odyssey teaser, holy s— it bangs. Tom Holland bout to make some people real silent, amazing acting in the short footage we see,” one viral tweet claimed.
“Do people genuinely think Tom Holland is a bad actor? I’ve never seen him give a bad performance,” another added.
